Composition 9/11- The First 6 Rules of Photography

Simplicity
This is simplicity because the picture is just simple by just showing the building with smoke and the background doesn't have that much too show also.
Bad Example: It may show too much of the smoke which gives it more effect.

The Rule Of Thirds
This shows the rule of thirds because you can imagine the vertical and horizontal lines in the picture.
Bad Example: There's an arrow in the picture which takes attention of the main thing.

Lines
The building here shows that there's lines.
Bad Example: The person falling merges with the lines.

Balance
On balance I found lots of shapes in the pictures.
Bad Example: The shadow of something might ruin the balance of this picture.

Framing
This frames the whole city by the picture taken in landscape.
Bad Example: This merges with other things like the smoke merging into the other buildings.

 Avoiding Mergers
The picture shows how it avoids mergers and the smoke passes through the Empire Building.
Bad Example: The Empire Building merges a little bit with the smoke.

Unusual and Interesting Photos Part 3

Part 3
1. Leonardo DaVinci, Raphael, and MichelAngelo were the most important because they were the most famous painting.
2.  This one was my favorite because it has a little bit of color. And just stood out to me.
3.
This one is like the other one because it is from the same painter/ photographer.
4. I think the photographer followed the suggestions by finding a picture that stands to him/her to take a good picture.
5. The style of painting that would influence me is modern day paintings, maybe because I'm more amazed with those.

Unusual and Interesting Photos Part 1 & 2

Part 1
1. The reaction to this work is that they look confusing but cool at the same time.
2. I think he used Photoshop to move around the building around the picture.
3. Like the first one that is the Eiffel Tower, and the 13th one is the London Clock, those are the buildings I am familiar with. The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France and of course Big Ben Clock is in London, Europe. We wouldn't get easy access to them because we would have to travel half the world to get there and take the pictures.
My favorite picture.

Part 2

1. I picked this photo because the face matches up with the person reading it and caught my attention.
2. I found this photo in the Smaller Markets section.
3. It won 1st place.
4. What attracted to me about this photo is the black and white and the book, because it aligns with the person reading it and seems like the person is enjoying the book.
5. I think the judges chose this picture as number one because it has the good quality and the description about what the boy was doing and how it goes with the face.
6. All what the photographer did was just take the picture and make sure it came out good.
1. I chose this photo because I like how the color came out.
2. The category was Sports Action.
3. The picture got 1st place.
4. What attracted my eye was the basketball players because I love basketball and the sky in the background it has good color.
5. I think this photo was in 1st place because of the many features it had in this picture like the sharpness and the exposure of the light and how the basketball player reaching for the hoop.
6. What the photographer did is probably get on the ground and focus the camera and waited for the basketball player to get in a good position to take a good picture like this.
1. I picked this picture because the little dress caught my attention and I liked the description of it.
2. The category was Local Portrait and Personality.
3. This picture got 4th place.
4. This picture caught my eye because of the the little purple tutu and the plastic foot/leg.
5. I think this picture got 4th place because it didn't really show much but yet it has a story by showing the little toddler and the plastic foot/leg.
6. The photographer probably just took the picture from the waist and below of the child to show what the kid can do and stand on the railing.
1. I picked this photo because of the couple being all cute in the middle of the road.
2. Category was Domestic News.
3. This photo got 1st place.
4. What the picture caught my attention was the police officers and the couple kissing and how they are in the ground while the bad stuff is happening in the background.
5. The judges chose this picture 1st place was maybe because of the story and how someone can show love no matter what is happening to them behind them.
6. What the photographer did was get behind the police and take a good shot of the couple at a good moment.
1. I like how the this picture came out and that is why I chose this picture.

5. I think maybe because the judges chose this as a 2nd place was maybe because of the quality and the color of the picture.
6. The photographer probably took this picture while she was walking maybe to talk to someone about politics or something else and took advantage to take a beautiful picture like this one.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. This article was about how photos were Photoshopped and how someone got fired because of cloning pictures. Which maybe the people who published the photos don't want that in their newspaper, magazine, etc. The pictures that were Photoshopped were shown how much it changed and what the photographers did.
B. I think it's acceptable because it makes the picture look more interesting and catch the reader's attention.

I think this was the most unethical because the editor of the picture was most likely to move the pyramids together to make it fit in the cover of the magazine. So, I think this one was not as bad as the other ones, plus, it doesn't have any copyrights of a person or object so it was okay.

National Geographic Warm-Up

This is my favorite photo because I love, love, love the ocean and waves. So I picked this picture because I liked how the colors of the ocean show and how the surfer is riding the wave which makes it more fascinating.
For a photo contest I would take a picture of nature because nature is a beautiful thing to show and there I would send the photo to a contest. And meet its expectations that it needs to take a great picture for a photo contest.

Touching People

1. What I think about this project and essay is that it can bother some people and it can't to other people but then again it's a good idea because you won't be looking like strangers in the pictures.
2. If someone approached me with a camera and ask for a photo shoot with a random person, I'd say yes, because I wouldn't care and I think the idea is good and helps you be more social and interact with other people.
3. For a photo shoot I would go to downtown Austin, and do the photo shoot there because since Austin is weird in many ways, I'd like to see all these people doing the photo shoot. It might be fun to do also.
4. I liked some pictures because of the quality and how some of the background was blurred. The people in the pictures seemed like they were family members by the way they were touching. But overall, I enjoyed looking at the photos, it was interesting to find something new about this kind of photo shoot.

40 Greatest Photos Taken

blamethevoices.com
I picked this photo because it stood out to me as in the ladies passing by through the years. As you can see in the background of each photo is the past photo that they took. This picture was the number one of the Top 40. Maybe because it has a meaning how the sisters showed how they aged throughout the years.

Vanderlei Almeida
This photo caught my attention because of the dog sitting on the grave of its owner. It makes me realize on how dogs are so loving and they care for you. I also like how the photo came out cause of the other graves that came out and then it shows the cross with the covered grave and the dog.

William Anders
This one is probably one of the most common picture because it was a photo taken in space. It caught my eye because the photographer had to get to show planet earth which was an astronaut. The astronaut wanted to take this picture to show how earth looks like from the moon. It made it to 40 from the 40 because it is a common photo like I said.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 2

Imogen Cunningham

Imogen Cunningham was born on April 12, 1883, in Portland, Oregon. She first began to take pictures in the year 1901. She enrolled for a photography course at the University of Washington. Her career began as a part time job in the Seattle studio of Edward Curtis. She won a scholarship from photography and took a course in a university in Germany in 1909. After studying she opened up her own studio gallery in Seattle, Washington. A portfolio of her pictures were featured in a magazine called Wilson's Photographic Magazine in the year 1914. After she got married she moved to San Francisco then she met a friend and her photos were featured in an exhibition. Her final photos were published in 1977 a year after she died. She died on June 24th, 1976 in San Francisco.

Red, Metal, Happy

Red
This one had Framing because the red wall frames the boy walking.

Metal
This one is the rule of the lines. Because it shows the lines of the metal.

Happy
This picture is simplicity because it was simple to just take the picture of the flowers and doesn't show that much of other stuff.

Camera history & information

The Camera
1. The effect "camera obscura" is in Latin for "dark room". It was achieved as the first camera.
2. The invention of the high quality glass lens was one step closer to the modern camera.
3. It was the glass lens, a dark box, and film were the parts of the first modern camera invented by Niepce.
4. They both take pictures and have a glass lens with film also.
5. Digital cameras capture images and save them in an electronic sensor called a CCD. Also stored in reusable computer memory devices.
Camera Modes
6. Auto mode pretty much does everything for you like the exposure,  and control flash. while the program mode is an automatic assist and you just point and shoot. But on program mode you have to adjust the control flash and other settings for the camera.
7. The portrait mode is used for taking a portrait and what it does is blur out the background and will use the most fastest lens for taking the picture.
8. Well the sports mode is for taking pictures for sports or fast moving objects not just sports. What it does is to freeze motion and it will use the highest shutter speed possible.
The Half Press
9. The fast press is for a faster camera response time, more control for the focus, and encourages better composition.
Controlling Flash
10. This symbol is used for NO FLASH for taking pictures so this feature is to turn off the flash. We would use this when it's daylight out or enough light to capture a picture.
11. This symbol is used for default depending if it needs to be used or not. It will automatically adjust itself and use the flash or not. We would use this whenever you're not sure if it needs flash or not so this mode is for it.
 Introduction to Exposure
12. Too much light in the picture will most likely be washed out.
13. If there is not enough light, the picture will turn out dark, and won't be able to see the picture well.
The Universal Stop
14. A "stop" is to represent a relative change in the brightness of the light.
15. One.
16. One I think..
Shutter and Aperture
17.   The longer shutter has more light.
18. The shorter shutter has less light.
19. It helps restrict light.
20. You have to change the f-stops.
