Imogen Cunningham


Imogen Cunningham was born on April 12, 1883, in Portland, Oregon. She first began to take pictures in the year 1901. She enrolled for a photography course at the University of Washington. Her career began as a part time job in the Seattle studio of Edward Curtis. She won a scholarship from photography and took a course in a university in Germany in 1909. After studying she opened up her own studio gallery in Seattle, Washington. A portfolio of her pictures were featured in a magazine called Wilson's Photographic Magazine in the year 1914. After she got married she moved to San Francisco then she met a friend and her photos were featured in an exhibition. Her final photos were published in 1977 a year after she died. She died on June 24th, 1976 in San Francisco.
