Front Pages of the World

1. My favorite newspaper front page is the one from Japan, it was different for me, I like how the layout was different, and I was surprised it was in the English language.

2. Not my favorite but the one that pops out to me is the U.S Bombing suspect. I never knew this bomb would get to somewhere halfway across the world, which surprised and made me realize that this situation was bad.

3. There's 4 story headlines in the front page mostly about the world news.

4. They have all at least a very simple design, like the headline for the name of the newspaper, an index, and at least four stories on the front page.

5. The size of the photos depends how much writing there is on the story, also the headlines have different fonts and sizes, there's also different colors on the title or any other place of a newspaper. Which makes it different.

Review

Who: Beethoven the Saint Bernard
What: slobbering, there is a hamburger in front of him
Where: he's at a photo shoot
When: Yesterday Monday April, 15
Why: he is a famous movie dog
How: by getting him to get still for his picture.

Head Line: Beethoven the famous dog gets hungry during shoot.

1. As he slobbers with excitement, Beethoven is getting prepared for his photo shoot by staying still.
2. He has starred in many different movies as a stunt dog so he deserved a big, delicious hamburger treat for being a good dog.

Simplicity- a simple background that doesn't distract from the dog.
Cropping- there is a selective cropping since we don't see the entire dog.
Rule Of Thirds- the eye follows the rule of thirds

News Value:

Human Interest
Timeliness
Proximity

Lighting/Exposure:

This picture is exposed properly you can see the dog.
The lighting is above the dog to show the dog clearly.

Lens:

Prime Lens

Make it better:

Change the setting, show him in the set.

News Values

1.Timeliness

Woman missing in far South Austin found at gas station

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/police-search-south-austin-park-for-missing-woman/nXKCC/

This is Timeliness because it happened recently which was around yesterday that they found her at a northeast gas station after taking a bike ride in South Austin park the night before.

2. Proximity

In-N-Out Burger on track for 2013 opening in Round Rock

http://www.statesman.com/news/business/in-n-out-burger-on-track-for-2013-opening-in-round/nXKFm/

This would be proximity because it is close by Austin, and In-N-Out is so good! I've tried it in California and been wishing they had one here in by Austin and since I go to Round Rock a lot it would be convenient.

3. Prominence

UT officials continue to investigate bomb threat

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/ut-officials-continue-investigate-bomb-threat/nXJwg/

This stood out to me because UT is in Austin, and there's been too many bomb threats and someday it might hurt people if it does really happen.

4. Impact

Man tries to take photo of beaver; it kills him

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/04/11/newser-beaver-kills-man/2074145/

Impact would be this one because a man gets killed by a beaver which seems pretty odd and impacted people which concerned them.

5. Conflict

Arrest of 3 teens in assault, suicide opens raw wounds

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2013/04/12/cyberbullying-sexual-assault-suicide-san-jose-arrest-teens/2076825/

There was conflict these 4 people, the girl who got bullied and the three guys who bullied her.

6. Human Interest

Texas’ senators oppose debating federal gun legislation

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/local/texas-senators-oppose-debating-federal-gun-legisla/nXKSX/

This is Human Interest because many people debate on the gun legislation.

7. Novelty

Man charged with hiding recorder in Hyatt shower

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/man-charged-with-hiding-recorder-in-hyatt-shower/nXM34/

This is Novelty because this is unusual to see or hear from, because really...who puts a recorder in a hotel?

Composition, lenses and photography terms

I would use a telephoto lens... when I'm taking a picture of a statue that's far away in the distance to get a realistic look for the photo.

I would use a prime lens to...take a picture of an indoor place, because more light gets in which the aperture is much bigger and can show more of a picture lighter and better.

I would use a wide-angle lens to...take a picture of a type of landscape to show the whole place. Almost like a panoramic picture but in just one click and in one picture.

Vocabulary:
Depth of Field (shallow and wide)- it is what is in focus and how shallow or wide the photo will come out.
Light (angle and intensity)- where the light is coming from, and the brightness.
Shadows Diffusion- the light absence.
Exposure- on how the photo really looks like, if it's too bright or too dark.
Aperture (f-stop)- how big the lens opening is.
Shutter speed- the speed of the mirror and how fast the photo will be taken.
ISO- the sensor of inside the camera, the sensitivity of the light.
